Melelem, Inc. ("Melelem," "we," "us," or "our") operates MEL Expert, an AI assistant that integrates with Slack and Discord to help teams communicate more effectively. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our service.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and authentication credentials. If you sign up using Google or GitHub OAuth, we receive basic profile information from those services.

Workspace Data

When you connect MEL Expert to Slack or Discord, we access messages in channels you explicitly select for monitoring. We do not access direct messages, private channels you have not selected, or any channels outside your configured scope.

Message Content

MEL Expert processes message content in real time to detect opportunities to help. Messages are sent to third-party AI providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or xAI) using API keys you provide. We do not store message content beyond the temporary processing window required to generate responses.

Usage Data

We collect analytics about how you use MEL Expert, including intervention counts, accept/dismiss rates, feature usage, and performance metrics. This data helps us improve the service.

Knowledge Sources

If you upload documents or connect Google Drive or Notion, we store and index that content to enable MEL Expert to reference it when generating responses. You control which documents are included.

How We Use Your Information

• To provide and maintain MEL Expert's core functionality
• To process messages and generate AI-powered suggestions
• To learn from your Accept/Dismiss feedback and improve suggestion relevance
• To send you service-related communications
• To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or security incidents

Third-Party Services

MEL Expert integrates with the following third-party services:

• Slack and Discord: To access workspace messages in channels you select
• AI Providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI): To generate AI responses using your API keys
• Stripe: To process subscription payments
• Google Drive and Notion: To access documents you choose to connect as knowledge sources

Each third-party service has its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review their policies. Your use of your own API keys means AI providers process data under your direct relationship with them.

Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. Usage analytics are retained according to your subscription tier (7 days for Free, 90 days for Pro, unlimited for Team). You can request deletion of your data at any time.

Message content is processed in real time and is not stored permanently. Knowledge source content is retained until you delete the source or your account.

Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest (AES-256), secure authentication, and access controls. Your API keys are encrypted before storage and are never exposed in logs or to our support staff.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Correction: Request correction of inaccurate personal data
• Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data
• Portability: Request your data in a portable format
